David York, Ph.D

Artistic Director

David York, Ph.D. has conducted choirs of all ages, sizes, and ability including the critically acclaimed David York Ensemble. He was the original conductor that gave Portland Boychoir and Ovation! their identities. David holds music degrees from Oklahoma City University (1981 BMus - Voice Performance, Vocal Music Education, and Piano), Portland State University (1985 MST – Conducting, Vocal Pedagogy), and University of Oregon (2002 Ph.D. – Music Composition, Theory). He has composed opera, oratorio, symphonic pieces, ballet, and numerous chamber works for chorus, electronics, and various instruments including handbells, piano, and guitar, some of which have been commissioned and/or published. This repertory, along with many of his choral arrangements, has received numerous performances throughout the United States.

In addition to his work as conductor, composer, and teacher of music, David is the Music Director at New Thought Ministries of Oregon

Nancy Nye

Executive Director

Ms. Nye has worked in the field of non-profit management for over twenty years. In that time she has been a passionate advocate for the arts and its power to strengthen communities, ensure quality of life and celebrate the human spirit. She was most recently the Program Manager for the Clackamas County Arts Action Alliance from 2004 - 2008, where she oversaw Cultural Trust grant administration for the county; program planning and event coordination and development for the county's public art program. Under her tenure, the county’s burgeoning Public Art program received a prestigious national award for Outstanding County Arts Program of the Year.

Prior to moving to Oregon, Nancy held positions with the Center Theatre Group (Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Mark Taper Forum and Ahmanson Theatres), the City of Los Angeles/ Los Angeles Theatre Center, California State University Summer Arts, Pacific Art Center Theatre and Center Arts.
